The UCP government is scapegoating immigrants and manipulating us.

Vote NO to The Nine. Vote to Remain in Canada.

The provincial UCP government has ruined healthcare, underfunded public education, shamelessly promoted rapid population growth without building the hospitals or classrooms to handle it.

Now they want to scapegoat immigrants for all of it.

Here is the goal for the October 19 referendum:

  • Vote NO on Questions 1 through 9 (The Noxious Nine).
  • Vote to Stay in Canada.

HOW THE UCP GOVERNMENT IS BLAMING IMMIGRANTS AND MANIPULATING US

Here are the questions…

Do you support the Government of Alberta taking increased control over immigration for the purposes of decreasing immigration to more sustainable levels, prioritizing economic migration and giving Albertans first priority on new employment opportunities?

🐐 The Scapegoat: Immigrants and newcomers, blamed for the housing shortage.

🛑 The Fact: Immigrants build the housing. Newcomers make up 23% of Canada’s construction workforce, including 20% of roofers and 16% of electricians.

🌀 The Manipulation: The government ran ad campaigns encouraging people to move here, failed to build homes for them, and now blames them for being here.

VOTE NO

Do you support the Government of Alberta introducing a law mandating that only Canadian citizens, permanent residents and individuals with an Alberta-approved immigration status will be eligible for provincially-funded programs, such as health care, education and other social services?

🐐 The Scapegoat: Immigrants and their families, accused of crowding ERs and classrooms.

🛑 The Fact: Newcomers staff our hospitals. Across Canada, immigrants make up 25% of registered nurses and 37% of physicians. In education, Alberta ranks last among all 10 provinces in per-student funding.

🌀 The Manipulation: They cut funding for classrooms and healthcare, then pointed fingers at immigrant kids and families

VOTE NO

Assuming that all Canadian citizens and permanent residents continue to qualify for social support programs as they do now, do you support the Government of Alberta introducing a law requiring all individuals with a non-permanent legal immigration status to reside in Alberta for at least 12 months before qualifying for any provincially-funded social support programs?

🐐 The Scapegoat: Temporary workers, framed as freeloaders wanting handouts.

🛑 The Fact: 90% of immigrants file income taxes in their first year. They pay into provincial revenues on Day 1.

🌀 The Manipulation: Denying emergency help to farmhands, food processors, and care workers is cruel.

VOTE NO

Assuming that all Canadian citizens and permanent residents continue to qualify for public health care and education as they do now, do you support the Government of Alberta charging a reasonable fee or premium to individuals with a non-permanent immigration status living in Alberta for their and their family’s use of the health care and education systems?

🐐 The Scapegoat: Working families (and their kids!) blamed for draining public dollars.

🛑 The Fact: Recent immigrants contribute over $5 billion every year in Alberta taxes. We cannot say this more clearly: they already pay for services.

🌀 The Manipulation: Double-taxing immigrants is sadistic ploy to hide years of provincial revenue mismanagement.

VOTE NO

Do you support the Government of Alberta introducing a law requiring individuals to provide proof of citizenship, such as a passport, birth certificate or citizenship card, to vote in an Alberta provincial election?

🐐 The Scapegoat: Immigrants accused (implicitly of course) to be voting illegally.

🛑 The Fact: Voter fraud in Alberta elections is non-existent.

🌀 The Manipulation: Imported American culture-war tactic designed to people distrust immigrants.

VOTE NO

THE OTHER 5 QUESTIONS ARE ALSO MANIPULATIVE

Questions 6 through 10 use the exact same playbook. They just swap out immigrants for Ottawa, judges, and Canada itself.

🌀 The Manipulation: By manufacturing fights over court appointments, the Senate, and federal funding rules (Questions 6–9), the government wants you looking everywhere except at their own record in Alberta. Question 10, separating from Canada, is the ultimate stunt. Breaking up Canada won’t hire a single doctor, build a single classroom, or lower your utility bills.

WHAT TO DO OCTOBER 19: Vote NO to The Nine. Vote to Remain in Canada.

The UCP government plan: Cut funding. Fail to plan for growth. Blame immigrants. Blame Ottawa.

Your plan: Don’t fall for it.
